Musicians On Tour Facebook Page Hop—Books, Gift Cards, Prizes and Fun!

Originally posted on my Facebook Page:

Welcome to the Musicians on Tour Facebook page hop. We’re bringing you a chance to get to know some of the best fictional musicians in the industry today!

I’m Sara Walter Ellwood and I’ll be interviewing my character country music superstar Gabe McKenna featured in the contemporary western romance–HEARTSONG…..ON SALE NOW for only $0.99

ME: When did you discover your love for music?
GABE: My parents encouraged my getting involved with singing at local events and church when I was just a little boy. My first memory of singing for a crowd is at a festival in my hometown when I was maybe four or five. Eventually, I joined the school band and choir.

ME: What’s your favorite thing about being on tour and what do you love most about performing?
GABE: The fans–for both questions. It’s always a thrill to think all of those people came out–spending their hard-earned money and time–to come and see me. Everyone can hear me when they buy a CD or download a song–which is damn humbling in of itself–but when I’m performing live, they’re there to see me. I always get a thrill from that. It’s a high like nothing else.

ME: Speaking of fans, what is the craziest fan encounter you’ve had?
GABE: You mean besides dodging ladies panties being thrown at me while on stage? I’ve had too many to count. But the one that–at the time it was happening–I considered the craziest was when my ex-fiancée showed up at one of my concerts. I truly thought I’d seen it all then. Our breakup hadn’t been pretty, and needless to say, I never expected her to ever come out to see me. Turned out she hadn’t. She was there to break the news of the plane crash that killed my father and his wife, who was her sister. Of course, what happened afterward is damned crazy–we ended up getting married to adopt my baby brother–who is also her nephew. Not a marriage made in haven at first. I’ll tell you that!

ME: What is your most personal song, and how did it come to be?
GABE: The one I sang at the NFR a few months after Micki and I got married. I still get goose bumps when I sing that song, especially if she’s around to hear it. I wrote it our wedding night while she was sleeping in one room and I was in another drinking whiskey and thinking about how our life could have been so different if we hadn’t broken each other’s hearts.

ME: If you didn’t get into music, what would you have done for a career?
GABE: Ranching. Something I NEVER wanted to do and which is EXACTLY what I want to do when I’m not touring. It’s damned funny how fate knows better what you should be doing than you do.

Besides gardening, I enjoy cooking. This year I’m going to share two recipes that I hope you all enjoy…

This first recipe is a combination of about three that I found on  As with most recipes from there, I read several before picking one, and usually I read the comments to see what others did to change the original. One of my favorite soups is Corn Chowder. But I’ve never made it, until I decided to make it for a soup sale the social committee was sponsoring at work.  So, I searched for a recipe, or rather several, that sounded good, and picked and chose what I liked from them, then combined those things and added a few things of my own into a brand new recipe. This is what I came up with.

Corn Chowder with Bacon and Ham

6 slices of bacon, chopped

1 onion, chopped

¾ cup water

2 potatoes, chopped

2 stocks of celery, chopped

2 carrots, chopped

2 (14.75 oz) cans cream style corn

2 (15.25 oz) can whole kernel corn with liquid of 1 can

1 cup ham cubes

½ teaspoon salt

ground black pepper to taste

1 to 2 teaspoons ham flavored soup base

2 tablespoons flour

1 can evaporated milk

½ cup half-and-half

1 teaspoon parsley

  1. Fry chopped bacon until crisp in a Dutch oven or stockpot. Remove bacon from drippings and set aside.
  2. Add chopped onion to bacon drippings and sauté until tender. Add water, potatoes, celery, and carrots. Cover and simmer until tender, 15-20 minutes.
  3. Stir in canned corn (both cream style and whole kernel), salt, pepper, soup base, and ham cubes. Bring to a boil, stirring frequently.
  4. Reduce heat until no longer boiling and let simmer just under a boil for five minutes.
  5. Whisk flour into half-and-half. Stir both evaporated milk and half-and-half mixture into soup, let simmer just under a boil for five minutes, or until soup thickens.
  6. Stir in parsley and bacon crumbles to serve.

Oh, and it was a best seller at the soup sale.

This next recipe was passed down to me from my mom, and it in turn had been passed down to her. This is my family’s favorite cheesecake, and a tradition for Christmas, Easter, and even other special occasions. Once, I made this for a baby shower and decorated it with edible flowers. It has the look and texture of a soufflé and a mild creamy flavor. It is delicious with either canned or fresh fruit, and homemade whipped cream. Definitely a desert for angels…

Preheat oven to 325 degrees

Mix together:

20-25 Graham crackers crushed or 1 box of Graham cracker crumbs

¼ to ½ pound of salted butter softened

3 tablespoons powdered sugar

Press onto the bottom and sides of 9 inch spring form pan, set aside.

Cream together:

2 large packages of cream cheese (8 ounce each)—I’ve used ⅓ less fat cream cheese with success, but fat free does not work.

½ cup sugar

2 tablespoons flour

Separate 4 eggs, beat yolks into cream mixture one at a time.

Beat in 1 teaspoon vanilla and 1 cup Half-and-Half.

Beat egg whites until stiff and fold (do not over mix) into mixture.

Pour into crust, back 60-70 minutes. With oven door open, leave cake in oven 1 half hour after baking to cool.

Remove spring form pan while cake is still warm to touch.

Top with canned pie filling or fresh fruit and garnish with whipped topping or whipped cream

Whipped Cream:

Freeze bowl and beaters for at least 2 hours before beginning.

1 cup of heavy whipping cream

Beat on medium speed for 30 seconds, then add 1 tablespoon of powdered sugar. Beat on medium speed until stiff. When cream begins to thicken, reduce speed and watch that cream does not turn to butter. When topping begins to appear shinny, stop beating. The toping is ready and it is thick enough to be piped through a pastry bag (if desired) and held overnight.

(Photos only used for presentation. Although, my corn chowder did look a lot like the one pictured, I couldn’t find a cheesecake picture that looked like my mom’s cheesecake.)

What’s better than fresh strawberries? I was looking for some ideas of how I could do a strawberry garden without taking up a ton of space, and of course, I checked out the greatest place for ideas–Pinterest.  I always find tons of great garden ideas there. Here are some of the Pins showing space-saving strawberry gardens that I’ve pinned to my own board. (which can be found HERE). Now, I don’t know which one I like best…

Click on the pictures to be taken to the Pin on Pinterest.

Growing strawberries in rain gutters hanging about 6 feet off the ground is a great idea if you have the extra room.

Maybe build the  them around the outside of your deck.

Sure would make for easy picking!

Copied from Pinterest. Found on

I love this idea!  This is a 55 gallon drum (barrel) with holes for the strawberries. You probably could plant something like Top Hat Blueberries around the top for the starters for a great fruit salad. Yum!

Do you have an old shoe rack that you have no idea what to do with? Why not make a garden out of it!!

This neat idea shows herbs (which you could do too!), but another pin mentioned using one of these for strawberries, which is a great idea.

These next ideas are probably for other plants, but I don’t see why they couldn’t be used for strawberries…

Guest Post– “Top Five Female Spies” by Sharon Cullen author of SEBASTIAN’S LADY SPY, new historical romance from Loveswept

Top Five Female Spies

First of all I want to thank you for hosting me today. I’m so excited about the release of Sebastian’s Lady Spy. This was a fun book to write because these two characters were so suited for each other but too hard-headed to realize it until it was almost too late.

Usually when we hear about spies, we hear about male spies but there were plenty of female spies throughout the ages that had an impact on history.

Here are five of the more interesting ones:

  1. Belle Boyd was a female spy during the Civil War who ran a hotel and ferried information from union soldiers to confederate soldiers using her maid.
  2. Josephine Baker was a renowned beauty and musician who was cleared to play in France during WWII. She worked for the French resistance passing secret information in her sheet music.
  3. Nancy Wake (my personal favorite) worked for the French resistance during WWII. She cycled more than 500 miles to replace destroyed codes and she killed an SS sentry with her bare hands.
  4. Sarah Emma Edmonds was a master of disguise and actually served in the Union Army during the Civil Was as a man named Frank Thompson.
  5. Mata Hari is an interesting study and probably one of the best known of female spies. She was a courtesan and an exotic dancer from India as well as a spy in WWII. She was shot and killed by the French.

Sebastian’s Lady Spy

Secrets & Seduction # 5

Sharon Cullen

Releasing March 31st, 2015

Seduction abounds in Sharon Cullen’s steamy historical romance! For the Crown’s top agents, love is a hazard best avoided—until an unforgettable affair exposes their undercover hearts.

Sebastian Addison has a powerful secret. To society he is the Earl of Claybrook, the patriarch who raised his siblings after the death of their parents. But to the king, Sebastian is Britain’s top spy—a position that has taken an emotional toll on him. Contessa Gabrielle Marciano has also been living a lie, her title a cover devised by the Office of Intelligence. The femme fatale was plucked from a life of crime and prostitution and trained to restrain her passionate nature. Until she meets the earl.

For three deeply sensual days and nights, Sebastian and Gabrielle drop their masks, indulging in pleasures that seem too good to be true. Then the lovers go their separate ways. Seven months later they reunite when inside sources report that an English aristocrat has been aiding France in a plot to topple the Crown. Their objective: to find the turncoat. Their greatest challenge: to keep their wild, wounded hearts from derailing a mission of life and death.

Cowboy bikers, fireworks, and romance, oh my…

Wild girl, Mia Sherman, has a secret—she isn’t as fearless as she pretends. Descended from Lonesome Point, Texas’ founding family, Mia grew up hearing tales of an ancient Irish curse that followed the Shermans to America. The first-born daughter of every generation is cursed to lose her husband on her wedding night, which is one of the many reasons Mia has sworn off relationships. Until the fateful day rancher Sawyer Kane rides his Harley into her life …

Can true love conquer all, even a centuries-old curse? Mia and Sawyer will be the first to find out.

See On Goodreads

Sawyer searched Mia’s face in the glow of the moon, the soft light making her look even sexier than she had in the yellow bulbs strung above the farmer’s market. “I really like you. A lot.”

“I like you, too,” she said, her full lips curving at the edges.

“But I meant what I said before, about not being ready for anything serious.” The words tried to stick in his throat, but Sawyer forced them out. He owed Mia honesty, and he wanted to make damned sure they were on the same page before things went any further. “I want to make sure that’s still okay. I wouldn’t ever want to hurt you.”

Her smiled faded, but her eyes remained soft, unguarded. “You won’t hurt me.” She ambled down the stairs, stopping on the stair above his, putting them face-to-face and their lips inches apart. “I’m fine with a night, or a week, or the summer…however long feels right. And when it stops feeling right, we go our separate ways, no anger, no regrets.” She lifted her arms, twining them around his neck, sending arousal surging through his body. “This is exactly what I need, Sawyer. You are what I need, and I can’t wait to touch you. Everywhere.”

Any hope of resisting vanished as that last word feathered between her tempting lips. Sawyer closed the distance between them, claiming her mouth as his arm wrapped tight around her waist, crushing her body to his. Her breasts flattened against his chest and her body heat caressed him, making his pulse spike and a moan sound low in his throat. He wanted this woman—badly. And he was past ready for them to be alone in a room with a bed, a door, and a lock to keep the rest of the world out.

Sawyer lifted Mia off her feet, carrying her through the shop entrance before kicking the door shut behind them.

“Up the stairs,” she whispered against his mouth. “Bedroom’s up there.”

Even sweet cowboys have a sinful side…

Robert Lawson—Bubba to his friends—is six feet, four inches of tall, dark, and handsome cowboy, with a panty-melting voice and a face made to launch a country music career. But when his family’s ranch hands go down with the flu, Robert cancels his high-profile auditions and returns home to help out. Marisol Medina has been looking for her golden ticket since she became a country music manager, but she refuses to mix business and pleasure, even if it will be hell, resisting temptation while spending a week at the Lawson family ranch with her star client.

But as Marisol and Robert grow closer and the passion between them ignites, Marisol must decide if a chance at forever is worth breaking all her rules.

See On Goodreads

“I don’t know about the women you date,” Marisol continued. “But I’m not that kind of girl.”

“What kind of girl are you?” Bubba aimed for a casual tone, but his voice came out strained.

“I’m not,” Marisol said, her expression sobering. “As far as you and I are concerned, I’m not a girl. I’m a businessperson. I will use every weapon in my arsenal to get your career moving. I will flirt with club managers and be your arm candy at events until you find a cute little thing to take home to your mama, but that’s where it ends. As long as you’re my client, it’s business between us.”

Bubba swallowed hard, fighting the urge to tell her that he was fine with ripping up their contract, right here and now. He’d rather have the Marisol who kissed him like she’d been dying for everything he wanted to give her than a business partner any day of the week. He’d had several managers approach him after the open mic night, but he hadn’t felt this drawn to a woman since he and Casey broke up a few years after high school.

Still, no matter how much he wanted to let his heart—and cock—do the talking, he had a meeting tomorrow morning with Wendy Dann and her people. Wendy wasn’t country music royalty just yet, but she was a major star. The chance to open for an act like hers, while her original opener was out of commission for vocal node surgery, was a once in a lifetime opportunity. If he landed this job, he could tell his asshole boss at the electric company to go fuck himself, and put his five-year career as a lineman behind him. He’d been relieved to be spared his older brothers’ fates as slaves to the family ranching business—he loved his family and spending long weekends at the ranch, but he’d never felt the call of the cows the way John and Cole did—but it wasn’t his dream to maintain overhead transmission lines, either.

No matter what the rest of the Lawsons had to say about it, music was in his blood. He never felt more alive, more at home, more at peace and generally right with the world than when he had a guitar in his hands and his lips inches from a microphone. Singing was the only thing that had ever lit a fire inside of him, and he didn’t want to risk losing his shot to transform his passion into a career because he was too hot for a woman to focus on the big picture.

So, with a deep breath and a brittle smile, Bubba swallowed the words on the tip of his tongue and said, “Just business is fine with me.”

“Good.” Marisol smiled, but Bubba would swear she sounded disappointed. “Then go get some rest and I’ll pick you up at six-thirty tomorrow. We want to be sure we’re on time. They’re making an effort to squeeze in this meeting before Wendy gets on a plane to Nashville for her week off, and we need to be there bright and early to show how appreciative we are.”

Bubba nodded, plucking his new, three-hundred-dollar cowboy hat off his head and running a hand through his hair, still feeling a little strange wearing a hat for stage dressing. Back in Lonesome Point, you wore your cowboy hat so your nose wouldn’t burn off by the end of a long day working outside. He was definitely out of his comfort zone in the designer hat Marisol had picked out for him. So far, almost all the money he’d made at his gigs had gone right back into clothes and headshot photographs and half a dozen other things he hadn’t realized he needed to launch a country music career. He couldn’t afford to derail things now, when he was so close to making good on his investment.

But as he swung into his truck, and Marisol crossed the parking lot to her vintage Spider convertible, Bubba couldn’t help wishing things could be different. For the first time in his life, he was defying his family’s party line and looking for a life outside of Lonesome Point. If he met someone special right now, it wouldn’t have to end the way things had ended with Casey, with a sad goodbye because most girls want to grow up and leave a small town behind, not settle in and raise a fifth generation of Lawsons with their high school sweetheart.

In Bubba’s gut, he knew he’d return to Lonesome Point eventually, no matter where his new career might lead, but in the meantime he had the chance to see what it was like to date someone he wouldn’t have to run into at the supermarket every other day, someone he hadn’t known since elementary school, and whose mama wasn’t friends with his. But so far, he hadn’t met anyone who intrigued him, let alone made him think about what it might be like to fall in love again.

No one but Marisol, the one woman who was off limits.

“Just my luck,” Bubba mumbled as he started the truck and drove across the nearly abandoned parking lot, doing his best not to peek into his mirror at the convertible behind him. Marisol had made it clear they were never going to be more than friends and colleagues, and Bubba had learned his lesson about pining for impossible things a long time ago.

Still, he couldn’t resist one last glance in his rearview as he pulled out onto the deserted street—wondering how long he’d be able to honor his “all business” promise with a woman who was everything he wanted, wrapped up in one irresistible package.

The home run neither of them expected…

Pike Sherman is a legend in Lonesome Point, a hometown boy who made it to the big leagues. Literally. Professional baseball acquired one hell of a pitching arm and it’s latest celebrity bad boy when the gifted Pike was drafted seven years ago. Pike’s broken heart came along for the ride, too, but he kept that private. Tulsi Hearst knows she should stay far away from the brooding man her summer love has become, but she can’t resist a dance with the only man who ever made her blood rush.

After a few days back in Lonesome Point, Pike can’t imagine life without the girl he left behind, but when Tulsi’s secret is revealed, his heart is broken all over again. The only thing worse than losing Tulsi, is losing six years with the daughter he didn’t know he had.

See On Goodreads

Tulsi stewed in her anger all day, and by the time Pike pulled up beside her in his red pickup truck as she was walking back to her aunt’s farm for supper, she was in a truly foul mood.

“Tulsi?” Pike frowned at her through the open passenger side window. “What the heck are you doing here? Did you and Mia come up to watch spring training?”

“No, I’m alone, and I’m working, Pike Sherman,” Tulsi said, losing the last of her cool. “I have a job that has nothing to do with you, your sister, your family, or baseball. I am a person, and I have my own dreams, my own interests, and my own life!”

“Okay, okay.” Pike blinked in obvious surprise. “Sorry. I didn’t mean to insult you.”

“Well, you did,” she said, still so angry she couldn’t seem to control her mouth. “You’ve been insulting me for years.”

His eyebrows lifted. “What? When have I ever—”

The black car behind him on the two-lane country road blared its horn, but instead of driving away, Pike pulled over on the gravel shoulder in front of her and got out of the truck.

Tulsi watched his long, lean form emerge from the driver’s side, refusing to notice how amazing he looked fresh out of the shower, with his brown hair hanging in thick chunks against his forehead and a gray tee shirt molding to his impressive chest. Instead, she focused on the fact that Pike was an entire foot taller than her five feet three inches, and how stupid she was to have spent years crushing on a boy who would have put a terrible crick in her neck if she’d ever actually kissed him.

“Have I done something wrong?” he asked, waiting for her response with a lost expression on his face.

Tulsi rolled her eyes, wondering how a boy on the verge of graduating from college with a three point five could be so stupid. It wasn’t like her crush had been particularly subtle. Even her big sister knew Tulsi had it bad for Pike, and Reece rarely paid attention to anything that wasn’t about Reece, still considered Tulsi a baby, and hadn’t been home to Lonesome Point in years.

“Because if I have, I’m sorry. You know I love you,” Pike continued, his words sending an arrow slicing through her already suffering heart. “You’re like the sweet, less irritating little sister I never had. I really… I care about you.”

Tulsi sucked in a shaky breath, pain and frustration warring in her chest, making her brave enough to step closer and pin him with a hard look. “I care about you, too, Pike, but I’m sick and tired of being treated like your little sister.” His eyes went wide with surprise, but there was something else there, too, a flicker of interest that made her bold enough to take another step toward him and add in a softer voice, “And maybe I’m not as sweet as everybody thinks I am.”

“Is that right?” he asked, brow arching.

“That’s right.” Something wild and brave inside of Tulsi raised its head, insisting it was time to make her stand, to grab for what she wanted before Pike was forever out of her reach. “So, as far as I’m concerned, you have two options.”

He nodded slowly, holding her gaze with an intensity that made her shiver. “I’m listening.”

“Either get out of my way and let me forget you,” she said, adrenaline making her pulse pound in her throat, “or shut up and kiss me.”

Oh, boy. That did it…

Tulsi watched the spark in Pike’s eyes kindle into a flame with equal parts fear and excitement. There was no doubt she’d captured his attention, but when he reached for her, the moment still felt surreal. She’d been fantasizing about Pike taking her in his arms for so long that when he finally did it, it felt like a dream: a scene from a movie she’d watched too many times to believe she would ever play the starring role.

Guest Post by bestselling author Maggie McGinnis featuring her latest release A COWBOY’S CHRISTMAS PROMISE

I Was Supposed to Marry a Cowboy (Don’t Tell my Husband)

Thanks so much for hosting me today! I’m so excited to celebrate the release of A Cowboy’s Christmas Promise with you!

I’m a born-and-bred New Englander, so I have to admit I get more than my share of the “Why cowboys?” question at family gatherings. Of course, my go-to answer is “Seriously? You have to ask?” But truly, why DO I write cowboys?

I think maybe I was supposed to have married one, and somewhere along the way I got distracted. Now, if my husband is reading this, it’s not about you. Truly. You’re awesome. Amazing, even.

Just … not a cowboy.

See, to me, cowboys totally own the whole tall, dark, and handsome thing. Even if they’re short, you put them on a horse, with a Stetson, and voila: sexy American icon. I mean, really. What could be better than a man who puts his animals before himself? A man who’s skilled enough to live outside for days on end? A man who speaks with his eyes and works with his hands?

A cowboy means horses, and campfires, and moonlit rides to secluded waterfalls. It means log cabins and barn kittens and haylofts and—sigh—those jeans, people.

I’m just sayin’.

Now, it’s possible I hold cowboys to an unrealistic standard, and maybe they’re not all gorgeous and fit and dreamy. But the ones I create are. I have architect-cowboys and veterinarian-cowboys and just plain cowboy-cowboys, and every single one of them is gorgeous, tough, and sexy-as-heck. They just need to find their happily-ever-afters with the right gals, and life will be perfect.

I didn’t get to marry a cowboy, and in reality I’m pretty okay with that, but I gotta tell ya—I’m still holding out for one of my besties to find one so I’ll have an excuse to go visit.

How about you? Whether you married him or not, what’s YOUR dream “type?” Did you ever long to be a cowgirl? Or are tall, dark billionaires more your style?

PS: Don’t forget to enter the Rafflecopter below to win a fabulous gift card and Loveswept swag! And psst! I’m giving away sparkly prizes on my website ( and on Facebook (, so go check ’em out!

Interview with Gemma Brocato author of EXPOSED TO PASSION

Hi Sara. Thanks for having on your blog today to talk about my new release, Exposed To Passion.

Wecome, Gemma!!!  Let’s start by you telling us a little about yourself.

I’ve been writing steadily since 2011, and contracted my first novel with Lyrical Press in 2013. I submitted the second a month later, then the third in Feb 2014. It’s been an exciting ride, with a very steep uphill learning curve. I’ve met so many wonderfully helpful people along the way it makes me believe my chosen career isn’t as solitary as it seems.

What genre/genres do you write?

I write contemporary romance, but I’m about to dip my toe into the sci-fi romance genre. I have a Christmas novella set in the 23rd century that I’m cleaning up with the intention of self-publishing in December.

Whatever became of your very first book?

Good question. I’m cleaning it up to get it ready to submit to my editor at Lyrical. I wrote the story while suffering a huge bout of homesickness and missing my teenage children after my husband’s job made a move to England. Kids wanted to stay home, and I pounded the story out on a company issued computer to ease the loneliness.

What can you tell us about Exposed To Passion that isn’t in the blurb or excerpt?

The theme of Exposed deals with what happens when someone is faced with a bully. Not only did I have a secondary character, Katie, who is bullied in the halls of the school Sam Kerrigan teaches at, but Sam and Rikki face bullying from a grown woman. The scene detailing and incident where Katie is bullied came from a real life situation I witnessed.

Is Exposed To Passion part of a series? If so, tell us about it.

Yes, Exposed is book #3 in the Five Senses Series, based on the Kerrigan family of a fictional town, Granite Pointe, Massachusetts. Each book is based on one of the senses. The heroine has a job which relies on the sense connected to the book. In this book, Rikki Salerno is a photographer, which of course, requires sight. Book #1, Cooking Up Love, about a chef, is based on taste, and book #2, Hearts In Harmony, about a music therapist, on hearing. I’m currently working book #4, which is based on smell, and features a heroine who owns a flower shop.

How long did it take you to write?

Each novel takes about three and a half to four months to complete. Then the hard part, editing begins.

Who was easier to write–Hero or Heroine? Why?

I have to confess the hero, Sam, was easier to write. I’ve been in love with him since he first walked on to the page. He’s a kind, sweet man who is a steadfast friend, and hot, hot, hot.

Now for some Fun Questions…

What’s your favorite TV show or movie of all time?

French Kiss, with Meg Ryan and Kevin Kline. Probably because whenever I’m watching it, my husband will sit down to watch it with me. It’s become a Valentine’s tradition for us.

If you could chose a period in history to be born in, what would it be and why?

I’d probably say the 1920s. Great music, great art and literature, and women were finally gaining independence.

What was the most embarrassing thing your husband/boyfriend/partner/friend ever did to you in public?

Hmmm, well, he’s pretty quick to point out when I’ve embarrassed him, usually in front of other people. No one likes to be called on the carpet in front of an audience.

What is the one place you have never visited but would love to?

Scotland. We’d planned to visit Edinburgh while we lived in London, but couldn’t book a hotel room. We were attempting to go during the midst of the Edinburgh festival. No room at any inn!

If you were stranded on a desert island and could chose any famous person (living or dead), who would you chose to be stranded with you and why?

Josh Holloway (Sawyer on Lost). He was a very resourceful guy.

Quick Quiz

  1. Cake or Chips – I’m a savory gal, so chips.

  1. Steak or Veggie Burger – Veggie Burger for sure.

  1. Chocolates or Roses – Oh, definitely roses. I love how the colors have significance.

  1. Boxers or Briefs or Nothing at all – Can I go hybrid and say boxer-briefs?

  1. And since I write both, I have to know which you prefer… Vampires or Cowboys – Well, I’d choose a Vampire, unless it’s a vampire cowboy, in which case, that guy would win hands down.

Five Senses Series Book #3

They walked through the shadows individually. Will they emerge into the light together?

Leading a vagabond life as a curator for a traveling photography exhibit translates to a lot of bad days for Rikki Salerno. But her trouble doubles when a careless high school student shoves her into a marsh. Being rescued by teacher Sam Kerrigan should have made things better, but Rikki’s inability to confess her true identity casts a shadow over their budding affair.

When Sam refuses an overly aggressive parent’s marriage proposal, she’s determined to ruin him. Not only does she doctor photos to make it look like Sam’s behaved inappropriately in front of students, she hacks the foundation website to reveal Rikki’s true identity. Faster than the blink of a shutter, Rikki’s focus changes from pursuing her full-color future to the black and white necessity of clearing Sam’s name.

Rikki dragged her eyes from his profile and turned her attention out the front window. “Oh, Sam, it’s perfect.”

Obligingly, Sam stopped the truck to let her take pictures. She adjusted the brightness setting, snapped another couple of shots, then dropped the camera into her lap.

“I’d love to see this at dawn. Do you know how haunting this would be in a low-light setting?” She fidgeted in her seat, battling her muse’s demand to pick up her camera again. The images she’d captured so far were sufficient. She’d known the second she took the best photo from that vantage point. She’d bet her favorite camera it was the way a baseball player knew a ball would soar out of the park the second the bat connected. Adrenaline spread through her like spiders, creeping and crawling through her chest and along her arms.

Sam put the truck back in gear and eased forward into a parking spot. “I brought wood so we can make a campfire over here, under the trees. The best spot for us to set up our camera equipment will be there, along the riverbank.” He lifted his hand from the steering wheel and gestured toward a flat, sandy section of land. “There is nothing overhead to mar the focus. Unless you see a better location…”

“I’ll look around, but the riverbank makes the most sense. It’s flat, and as long as it’s solid, should be good.” She flashed back to the spit of land where they’d met, when the bank hadn’t been stable enough to keep her from tumbling into the water. “I’ll unload the equipment if you start the fire.”

Putting his shoulder to the door, he paused, appeared to think better of it, then twisted toward her. Desire changed his eyes to steamy, mesmerizing cobalt. Leaning across the center of the truck, he lifted a hand to her cheek and urged her lips toward his. His mouth, soft and warm, possessed hers, shortening her breath. After a brief moment, he deepened the kiss, opening his mouth on hers, demanding more. Without hesitation, she responded, welcoming the intrusion of his tongue and plunged her fingers through his hair, pulling him closer.

Sliding his hand down her arm, he cradled her wrist, then pulled her hand to rest along his chest. His heart thumped violently, racing, echoing her speeding pulse. His lips curled into a smile. He laced his fingers through hers and pressed, flattening both against his body. The warmth of his hand, the rhythmic thud of his heart, and the sensuous insistence of his lips rocked her. It changed mere passion into something more enduring.

The loud blare of a horn interrupted the brief interlude. Sam jumped away from her, disentangling their fingers, pink staining his cheeks. Moving his hands to his lap, he attempted to hide the evidence of their steamy kiss from the group of students pulling into the spot next to his truck.

About the Author:Gemma Brocato

Gemma’s favorite desk accessories for many years were a circular wooden token, better known as a ’round tuit,’ and a slip of paper from a fortune cookie proclaiming her a lover of words; some day she’d write a book. All it took was a transfer to the United Kingdom, the lovely English springtime, and a huge dose of homesickness to write her first novel. Once it was completed and sent off with a kiss, even the rejections addressed to ‘Dear Author’ were gratifying.

After returning to America, she spent a number of years as a copywriter, dedicating her skills to making insurance and the agents who sell them sound sexy. Eventually, her full-time job as a writer interfered with her desire to be a writer full-time and she left the world of financial products behind to pursue an avocation as a romance author.

Release Day Blitz–DEMON HUNTER by Jaquie Underdown

Demon Hunter by Jacque Underdown

Demon Hunter

Jacquie Underdown

Releasing October 20th, 2014

Beachwalk Press

Sometimes finding love at the wrong time and in the wrong place can be exactly what is needed.

Sammy has dedicated her life to helping others. She doesn’t have an enemy in the world, so why is she suddenly on the Dark Walkers most-wanted list?

Jonty is a soldier from the future and is sent back to the twenty-first century to eliminate the Dark Walkers. He hates this time period and wants nothing more than to get in, perform his duties, avoid all distractions, and get out. But that changes when he meets Sammy. There is something about her, beyond her beauty and courage, which he can’t resist.

When Sammy is saved by Jonty, it’s insta-boom-lust. There is nothing complicated about how this strong, sexy man makes her feel. And she knows Jonty feels the same way, so why does he resist her?

With humanity under threat, and both their lives in danger, there are greater things at stake than a little romance. Or is there? Destiny may have other plans. And their deep sexual attraction may just be the key to saving them all.

Content Warning: contains steamy sex, mature language, and some violence.

Sammy couldn’t take it anymore. Being in such close proximity to Jonty and not being able to lean over and take that sumptuous bottom lip of his between hers and suck his tongue until he moaned into her mouth was torture. She released a loud breath of air, stood, and straightened her skirt and t-shirt. She had to get away from him or she’d burst.

Sammy sat on the bed and reached for the remote. Jonty slid his chair back from under him and followed. Her heart thumped, harder, faster, but she remained focused on the television. He sat beside her. She could feel his stare. Eventually, she turned to face him and looked into those incredible blue eyes.

He took a deep breath and scrubbed his hands over his face. “So much is at stake, Sammy. I can’t pursue—” He pointed from his chest to hers. “—this, us.”

Air escaped from her throat, leaving her breathless. “Why? Why can’t you?”

His features twisted, almost with pain, and his mouth drooped into a deep frown. She pressed her hand to her heart, an attempt to stop the aching she felt for his struggle. She could see his turmoil. She resented it, because in her own mind nothing at all was complicated about how she felt about this man. Regardless of what she had been through, of anything else that could possibly exist in their lives, what she felt was simple. It was only his continual rejection that was stopping them from happening.

She stroked the length of his cheek with her finger. His eyelids drifted shut. When he opened them again, she slowly leant closer and pressed her lips to his. All his angst, all his desire, was communicated in a single sigh of acceptance. He opened her lips with his, found her tongue. She loved his warmth, his taste, the rough prickle of his chin. She had ached for this ever since that first kiss. Her entire body buzzed with a delicious energy, a want, a need. His strong hands gripped her hips, then slid up her spine to her neck where he pulled gently on the hair at her nape.

She looked into his eyes. “How can what is happening between us be wrong? It feels so pure.”

“It’s complicated.”

“Does it have to be complicated?”

He shrugged. “I can’t see any other way.”

Sammy ran her thumb along his full bottom lip. His eyes languidly closed. She couldn’t resist leaning in, taking that very lip between her own, and kissing him again, exactly as she imagined.

“Tasting you is easy enough,” she said.

He smiled. “Easy, and it feels so incredibly good.”

Sammy stood before him and lowered onto his lap. She circled her arms loosely around his neck and kissed him again. “How about we do whatever feels incredibly good then?”

He rested his forehead against hers. His lips lightly grazed her as he spoke. “But once I start with you, I—I won’t be able to stop. I will cross the line.”

She ran her tongue over her bottom lip and whispered, “I won’t want you to stop.”
