30 Days of Summer - Jenn Roseton - Book Cover

When city tycoon Alex Trask proposes to curvy Laura, she thinks he’s crazy. After all, they’ve only met once and haven’t even kissed!

But when he offers to help her company solve its cash flow problems and stave off bankruptcy, what other choice does she have?

Since he’ll only assist her if she agrees to marry him, Laura becomes a whirlwind bride. Since one of Alex’s conditions is they have a real marriage, she risks her heart by falling in love with the enigmatic billionaire.

But will she ever discover the real reason Alex proposed? Could he ever fall in love with a curvy girl like her?

This is a sexy contemporary romance novella of 33,000 words.

Although this is the second book in the Billionaire Brothers series, it’s a complete, stand-alone romance.

“The bed’s comfortable.” A sexy grin rumpled the corners of his mouth. “I come here whenever I can get away from the city.”

Alone? Laura wanted to ask, but didn’t, in case she didn’t like the answer. A sudden thought occurred to her. What if … what if their definitions of marriage differed?

“Alex.” She licked suddenly dry lips, barely aware that he’d caught the small movement and turned all his attention on her. “When … when you said a real marriage …” she paused. This was so awkward. Why on earth hadn’t she thought of this before she’d married him?

“I meant a real marriage.” He pulled her towards him, until there was barely an inch of space separating their bodies.

Finding it hard to think, let alone breathe, Laura tried again. “Yes, but what about … other people?”

He scowled. “There won’t be any one else in our marriage, Laura,” he said firmly. “Just you and me.”

Relief flooded through her. “Okay,” she whispered, allowing herself to relax in his embrace.

The next instant, he tightened his arms around her. “I hope we’re clear on this point,” he growled.

“Very,” she managed to utter, before he kissed her.

His lips claimed hers, his tongue demanding immediate entry. Surrendering with a small sigh, Laura curled her arms around his neck as he deepened the kiss…

Jenn Roseton believes that romance and happy endings go together. When she’s not writing, she indulges in delicious gourmet chocolate.

Although she’s spent time in Wyoming, unfortunately she didn’t meet a sexy cowboy of her own.

Guest Post–Karen Michelle Nutt explains the Boabhan Sith from her book SOUL TAKER… And a 5* review

A Legend of the Boabhan Sith (pronounced baa’-van shee)

There were four men who had gone hunting in Ross-shire. They had lost track of time and the sun had set before they took the path for home. With no moon to guide them, they took shelter in a deserted shieling they’d come across, and to keep themselves warm, they sang and danced. One of the hunters voiced how he wished that their sweethearts were there to dance with them. At that moment, the wind blew the shieling’s door open and four beautiful women stood just Soul Taker baobhan sithoutside. The men paused in their dancing and singing to invite them in.

All four women had golden blonde hair and their gowns were rich earth green, flattering their odd colored eyes. Three of the men danced with three of these beautiful women, while one of the women sat by the singer by the hearth. After a while, the singer noticed one of his friends was bleeding, drops of blood fell to the floor and the woman he danced with lapped up the blood flowing from his friend’s neck.

The singer flew to his feet with the intent to warn his friends, but the female who was sitting next to him attacked. He barely escaped her clutches, but somehow managed to break free and run outside. He hid among the horses, and though the woman who attacked him followed in his wake, she halted her steps when she spotted the animals. She hovered near, but wouldn’t venture closer. She tried to lure him away, her voice like an enchantress, but he closed his eyes and sang a melody to drown out her words. He stayed by the horses all night and sometime before daybreak the woman left with her other three companions.

Safe now, the singer ventured back inside the shieling to find his friends’ bloodless bodies. To his horror, he realized the four women had been the dreaded Baobhan Sith (pronounced baa’-van shee).

In my vampire mythology in Soul Taker I have taken creative license with the Boabhan Sith myth by incorporating my own spin on the legend. The Grim Sith are purely a vampire sept fashioned from my imagination and not from folklore.

The Boabhan Sith mate with human males to produce an offspring, but only a female child of the species is allowed to live. After they are mated, they kill the human male. However, Fallon, a powerful Boabhan Sith decides to create her own army of male vampires. She turns her male victims by drinking their blood until their hearts almost stop then she feeds them her blood to revive them again. The transformation is almost immediate. This new species of vampires born from her perverse plans to dominate are called the Grim Sith (pronounced Grim Shee).

Soul Taker by Karen Michelle Nutt

Soul Taker

Karen Michelle Nutt

No soul is safe…

A vampire from the Grim Sith sept is sucking the souls out of young women from the Boston area, but this sinister crime is far worse than a vampire seeking substance. He’s selling the souls to the highest bidder and it seems business is booming.

A vampire, a werewolf, and a Necromancer are a most unlikely team, but Garran, Harrison, and Isabella plan on putting a kink in the dubbed Soul Taker’s plans. It’s personal now. One of their friends has fallen victim to the Soul Taker’s charms, but to stop him from hurting anyone else, their efforts may involve raising the dead.

After Karen announced she was looking for blogs to host her audio book, Soul Taker, I had to download it… And I loved it!  Of course the Star Wars fan in me loved that it was about Sith…. But soon found out this Sith wasn’t a Jedi gone bad, but a scary Scottish soul-sucking vampire!

My Thoughts… 5 Stars

I’m an avid paranormal reader and every once in a while I find a book that really grips me. This is one such story.  The characters are engaging and well written. Isabella is interesting and someone I’d love to be friends with. She’s smart and uses her head instead of waiting to be rescued. The sex Scottish vampire is brooding and terrifying but as the reader soon discovers is a protector the very humans he claims to despise. Harrison, the Irish werewolf and best friend of Garran, is my favorite character. He’s fun and cares about Isabella and her friend Johanna. The dialogue is spot on and snappy without losing its feeling of real speech. And the secondary characters are well developed. The plot is fast-paced without being so fast, the story seems undeveloped. I love the way Karen sprinkled in the characters’ back story, even to the very ending.

I can’t recommend this story enough!!

A World Apart

Love Where You Roam #2

Cd Brennan

She left home to find herself…and found love along the way.

Lizzy travels to Scotland to track down her roots, hoping where she comes from will help her figure out where she needs to go. An Aussie girl through and through, tough as nuts and a bit wild, she believes there’s nothing so wonderful as a world seen through wine-tinted glasses…

…until she meets Hottie Hamish, Bridge of Allan’s most eligible bachelor.

Hamish is Lizzy’s polar opposite in every way. He’s serious, driven, and motivated, focused on becoming the youngest associate professor at the Glasgow School of Art. But he’s hiding a social phobia behind his gruff exterior that makes it almost impossible to connect with people…

…until he meets Lost Lizzy, all sunshine and lightness, an Australian beauty with the proverbial heart of gold.

Where they come from may be worlds apart, but atop a Scottish Munro, they begin to realize where they’re going is best traveled side by side.

A Lyrical Press New Adult Romance

Hamish squeezed the steering wheel repeatedly as if it was a soother ball. At least he refrained from grinding his teeth. He turned to Lizzy. “And how do you find this funny?”

“I don’t find it funny, ha ha,” Lizzy stressed. “More funny as in fun.”

“This is fun to you?”

“Sure! Why not? It’s an adventure! Out here on the side of a beautiful mountain under the stars. So we sleep in the car. Sounds good to me. There can only be a few hours until light, anyhoo, right? Not to mention, my adventure is with a fine and handsome Scotsman.” She playfully punched Hamish in the arm, an exaggerated smile on her face. “That’s you, Hamish.”

Luckily the darkness hid the blush that rose from his neck. Even now, he found it hard to believe women found him attractive. Too many embarrassing and awkward moments with girls when he was younger made him think otherwise.

He cleared his throat. He could tell her now about his interview tomorrow, but it wouldn’t help the situation. “I’m worried about Rennie.”

Barely the words were out when Lizzy had hopped over the center console of the front seat and launched herself into the backseat. The jacket she wore caught on his travel coffee mug, spilling the contents onto Lizzy as she landed with a hmph.

“No worries,” she said, smearing the cold coffee into her jeans.

Lizzy peered over the seats, then reached over to stroke each dog’s head.

“Both are sound asleep. Charlie is even snoring–” Lizzy broke off suddenly, turning around to face front. She pulled her knees to her chest. Her teeth were chattering.

“Lizzy, get in with the dogs.”

“Wh-wh-what?” She looked at him as if he was a complete tosser.

Her body had begun to convulse to counterbalance her heat loss.

He drew in a deep breath through his nose and tried again. “Please, get in the back.”

“You wa-wa-want me to go sit with the dogs?”

“You’re a real shit, ya know. I don’t deserve this. Sure, I know I was out with them all day, but it was ba-ba-better than waiting on your girlfriend.”

“Eh? What are you talking about?” Maybe she had already reached delirium. He needed to get her body temperature up as quickly as possible.

“That princess Marie at your house this morning, she said you said I would cook her breakfast. And there I was serving her food like a ser-ser-servant girl. It wasn’t gourmet cuisine or anything, but I still cooked it for her!”

“You’re telling me you don’t even remember her name? And here you came across as such a refined gentleman on Sunday. I should have listened to the rumors. They are obviously all true.”

Hamish hadn’t the slightest idea what Lizzy was going on about. Unless she meant his colleague’s daughter who had spent the night. He had barely said two words to her before he excused himself to prepare for his interview. His brother Alasdair had taken her to the Crooked Arm for the pub quiz night.

“I was hired to clean your house and cook some tea for you, not to wait on your shags. You never said anything about cooking for the girls you brought home–”

“I’m going to fold down the seats.” Hamish interrupted her before she got herself worked up any further.

“What the bloody hell for?”

“Lizzy, please! You’re having a delayed hypothermic reaction.”

A confused look passed over Lizzy’s face. “From the cold coffee?”

Book Spotlight—TO MARRY A SCOTTISH LAIRD by Lynsay Sands

To Marry a Scottish Laird

An English Bride in Scotland #2

Lynsay Sands

Releasing June 24th, 2014

New York Times bestselling author Lynsay Sands returns to the Highlands of Scotland in her hottest new historical romance yet!

Highlander Campbell Sinclair is no stranger to battle, so when he sees a lad attacked by bandits, he jumps into the fray. He didn’t count on being stabbed. Grateful to the boy for nursing him back to health, Cam offers to accompany Jo safely to his destination. But when he accidentally comes across the lad bathing in the river, Cam discovers that Jo is actually Joan . . . with the most sinful of curves.

Joan promised her mother that she would deliver a scroll to the clan MacKay. But traveling alone is dangerous, even disguised as a boy. When a Scottish warrior lends his aid, she is more than relieved . . . until he surprises her with lingering kisses and caresses that prove her disguise hasn’t fooled him. As their passion ignites, will the secrets of the scroll force a wedding . . . and lead to a love she’s never known?

Cam heard the trouble on the trail ahead before he saw it. The screams made him instinctively slow his horse as he rounded the bend, but when he saw a young boy being held by the scruff of his shirt and beaten by a big bull of a man, Cam reached for his sword and spurred his horse to move faster. A heartbeat later he’d reached the pair.

The thud of his boots hitting the ground made the assailant glance around, just in time to see Cam’s sword hilt before it slammed into the big oaf’s head. The fellow went down like a stone, unfortunately falling on the boy and landing with enough weight to bring a grunt of pain from the almost insensate lad.

Wincing in sympathy, Campbell used his booted foot to roll the villain off the boy. The moment the man’s weight was removed, the lad opened his swollen and blackening eyes and squinted up uncertainly.

“Yer safe,” Cam said and bent to offer him a hand up.

Instead of taking it, though, the lad glanced past him, swollen eyes widening slightly with horror. Cam instinctively started to straighten, but a blow to his lower back made him stagger. He managed to avoid trampling the lad and regained his footing after a couple of steps, then whirled to confront his assailant.

Assailants, Cam corrected himself grimly as he took note of the three men he now faced. They all had dirty faces and wore ragged clothes. None were as big as the man he’d knocked out, but they were not small either, and each had a different weapon. The bald man on the left held a club, the one with long dark hair on the right held a rusty old sword, and the ginger-haired one in the middle held a knife that was presently dripping with blood.

His blood, Cam realized even as he felt warm liquid begin to trickle down his lower back and leg. He hadn’t been punched in the back, he’d been stabbed.

Book Spotlight and Review—LILY’S SUMMER COWBOY by D’Ann Lindun

Today, I welcome back D’Ann Lindun with a spotlight on her latest novella Lily’s Summer Cowboy.  I just finished reading this well-written, fantastically emotional second-chance romance and LOVED IT….So, I figured since I was scheduled to do a spotlight, I’d surprise her with a review.

Lily's Summer Cowboy by D'Ann Lindun

Lily’s Summer Cowboy

D’Ann Lindun

Afraid to love, Lily Halderman is determined to never feel despair like when she lost her husband to cancer. Left alone to continue their custom farming business, she struggles to stay afloat, both financially and emotionally. Until Will comes along to help with the farm, impressing her with his hard work ethics, and presenting a danger to her heart because he is just the kind of man she could love.

Will Wainwright is running from the pain of the past. Feeling responsible for the death of fellow soldier—the woman he loved—Will takes a job working for Lily, hoping the dawn-to-dusk labor will help him forget his sorrow. But, Lily’s grit and determination to move forward catches him off guard.

Friendship turns to passion …but can they heal one another?

Three days passed and Lily had forgotten all about Maggie’s grandson. Her hours had been filled with getting seed in the ground and nothing else. Her shoulders ached from steering the big John Deere and she still had another five hundred acres to plow by the end of the week.

She parked the tractor in the barn and trudged toward the house. The sun had begun to set behind the mountains in the distance, making it hard to see, but she thought someone sat on one of her wicker chairs on the porch. Maybe Maggie’s grandson had come after all.

Too tired to do more than eat, shower and fall in bed, she fought a spark of irritation. She didn’t have time to babysit a spoiled teenager. Why Maggie thought she did was beyond her. With a frown, she stepped up on the porch. And stopped. And stared.

A man sat on the rocking chair, spinning a Stetson on the toe of one of his boots. A striped western shirt hung open over a grey t-shirt snugged against a flat belly and faded Wranglers pulled over taut thighs.

This was Maggie’s grandson?

Lily swallowed and swiped her palms down her jeans, realizing for the first time how she must look in a dust stained tank top and jeans, her tangled ponytail pulled through the back of a ball cap. “Hello.”

A smile lit up against his darkly tanned face. “Howdy.”

“I—uh, I’m Lily.” She stood on her own steps, unsure how to proceed. “You’re Maggie’s grandson?”

“Yes, ma’am.” He stood and held out his hand. “Will Wainwright.”

“Nice to meet you.” She took his hand and jolt of awareness went through her. Dark blond hair, eyes as dark brown as the earth. Chiseled cheekbones. Wow.

Maggie had led her to believe her grandson was a teenager. This man was no teen. Probably around twenty-five. A man. Although a decade younger than Lily.

“I’m sure sorry about your husband,” he said. “Gran told me what happened.”

“Thank you.” He’d probably never been touched by tragedy in his life. Suddenly she felt ancient. “Would you like iced tea?”

My Thoughts….5 Stars

As I said above this novella was well-written and despite it’s short length, this story was an emotional ride. Will and Lily both are heartbroken and aren’t looking for love when Lily’s friend offers her grandson to Lily for hire for the summer.  Lily is a 30 something widow who is grieving the untimely death of her husband and has her plate full to overflowing with her farm. Will is a cowboy who is a little younger than Lily, and he’s swoon worthy. But he’s also a  tortured hero,  literally. He’s a veteran returning from the war and is dealing with the death of his fellow soldier and girlfriend. But when he and Lily meet the tension is scorching and their attraction causes all kinds of internal conflict.

This book is one I highly recommend for sitting on the beach. It’s the perfect length for those who want a great story but don’t have the time to read a long book. But just because this book isn’t long doesn’t mean D’Ann short-changes the reader on quality. This story is packed with emotion and by the end I was in love with these characters as much as they were with each other.

(I purchased this book from Amazon and the author is unaware I did a review)

Meet D’Ann…

Falling in love with romance novels the summer before sixth grade, D’Ann Lindun never thought about wrD'Ann Linduniting one until many years later when she took a how-to class at her local college. She was hooked! She began writing and never looked back. Romance appeals to her because there’s just something so satisfying about writing a book guaranteed to have a happy ending. D’Ann’s particular favorites usually feature cowboys and the women who love them. This is probably because she draws inspiration from the area where she lives, Western Colorado, her husband of twenty-nine years and their daughter. Composites of their small farm, herd of horses, five Australian shepherds, a Queensland heeler, two ducks and cats of every shape and color often show up in her stories!

D’Ann loves to hear from readers! Please contact her at

Guest Post– “The Story of Inspiration” by Kristin Wallace author of ACTING UP

The Story of Inspiration

Ask a writer the question they get asked the most and it’s probably some variation of “Where do you get your ideas?” It is the most frequent and often the hardest question to answer for a writer. The truth is a lot of us are not sure. We’d love to say ideas come floating through the air and we just reach up and grab them. That doesn’t happen. There are no idea fairies waving magic wands to produce fully formed book plots.

Ideas can come from anywhere and everywhere. A book we read, a movie, a magazine article, a commercial, something another person says. I often say coming up with idea is a lot of like playing a slot machine. You pull the lever and then watch it turn, hoping you get three cherries (the magic idea). It rarely works so easily. You have to play over and over again until you get the right combination.

For my latest book IMAGINE THAT I know exactly where the idea came from. I was sitting in a movie theater watching the pre-movie entertainment and they had a segment about the upcoming Harry Potter movie (Yes, this idea and the book itself is a couple years old even though it’s just now seeing the light of day.) Anyway, I started to think about what would happen if J.K. Rowling couldn’t come up with another idea for a book or series. After having such phenomenal success, where you go from there? What could you possibly do to match that? As recent events have proven, her later books haven’t come close to making the impact of the Potter books. In fact the last one, which was written under a pseudonym, didn’t take off until after it was “leaked” that she was the author.

So the idea was born of a best selling children’s book author who had a phenomenal first book and then the second book flopped. Now Emily Jane Sinclair (aka E.J. Sinclair) is stuck and has seemingly lost her inspiration. So she sets out on a quest to recover her imagination. The journey takes her to Covington Falls where she meets someone (Nate Cooper) who is far away from her upbringing as possible. It was such a fun book to write because Emily and Nate are so different. She’s highly educated and comes from a world of literature professors. He barely made it through high school. Her every reference has something to do with books. He hasn’t read any of them. In the end they are the perfect foil. She brings lightness into his world. He grounds her in this one.

Hope you has as much fun getting to know Emily and Nate as I had writing them.

Children’s author Emily Sinclair was supposed to be the next J.K. Rowling… Until her second book flopped and her imagination went on the fritz. So Emily sets out on an epic adventure to find inspiration again. Till a dead car lands her in Covington Falls, Georgia. Soon Emily is taking up her quest, looking for inspiration driving a mobile library van, as a companion to a crotchety old woman and her insomniac dog, and as a very ungraceful baker’s assistant.  Of course, what really sparks her romantic fantasies is a valiant hero, though he yields a paint roller instead of a sword.

Rugged, blue-collar Nate Cooper has spent most of his life avoiding the printed page. These days he doesn’t have much use for fancy words and certainly not for a slightly off-center writer on the lam. Not when his mother is battling cancer, his little brother has morphed into a teenaged ogre, and God seems to have taken a vacation.

On paper, these two would seem the least likely pairing, and a happily ever after nothing but fantasy. But with faith and imagination Emily and Nate are about to write a new chapter that will lead to unexpected love.

Chapter One

A stomach-churning thunk. A disaster-laden chug. A scary, threatening gurgle.

Emily Sinclair’s hands clutched the steering wheel as she guided her how-could-you-give-out-on-menow convertible to the side of the road. With a last ominous blunk and splutter, the car gave up the ghost.

She switched off the engine, waited a few seconds, and then turned the key again. Nothing.

Not surprising. As if anything glug-glugging like an octogenarian trying to cough up a lung was going to restart with so little effort.

A cranky yowl went up from the passenger seat. Emily glanced over at the pet carrier and sent the fat Persian inside a confident smile. “Don’t worry, Wordsworth. This is why modern man invented cell phones.”

She fished her phone out of her purse. A blank screen stared back at her. Pressing more buttons did nothing.

Dead as her car.

With a sound of disgust, Emily tossed the useless phone aside and stared out the windshield at the deserted country road in front of her. The very deserted country road that stretched around a sparkling blue lake and disappeared into the back of beyond. The kind of road featured in all the best horror stories. Emily’s mind conjured up every one, along with the opening line in the newspaper article.

Onceamous children’s author found mangled to death. Quest to locate her lost imagination and revive faded career ends in disaster… as her mother predicted.

Muttering an oath, Emily climbed out of the car and slammed the door as hard as she could. What a fix. And ironic. There were rules about writing. Not grammar rules, like where to put commas or when to use a semicolon. No, the unofficial rules for fiction writing. Chief among them is that an author should never start a novel with the character driving or thinking. No, readers wanted action right off the top, and the car could never break down.

In college, Emily had written a short story where the heroine’s car stalled in a typical these-people-will-murder-you-in-your-sleep town. Emily’s professor had written cliché in bold, red pen across the page. Not satisfied, she’d added boring cliché, underlining the boring with three thick red lines. The critique had stung. The fact that it had come courtesy of Professor Vanessa Sinclair, Emily’s mother, had been like ripping off an old bandage.

Emily was breaking all three cardinal rules of writing at once. Though technically the driving rule didn’t apply. Same for the sitting rule. She was thinking, though. Thinking her entire life had become a cliché, so what did it matter if she broke her mother’s precious writing rules? She was a one-hit writing wonder. A flash in the pan. A big-haired eighties’ rock band that had scored one giant hit and then disappeared into the oblivion of those nostalgic ‘Where are they now?’ music specials.

Emily sighed. If one had to break down somewhere, one could do worse than… what had the sign said back there? Covington something. Covington something, Georgia. Muted afternoon sun shimmered off the surface of the lake. She lifted a hand to ward off the eye-watering glare and focused on the water. In her previous life, the golden flecks of sunlight reflecting off its surface would have transformed into a million different kinds of fantastical creatures. Or maybe something nightmarish would charge out of that bank of oak trees across the lake.

Unfortunately, Emily was stuck in her real life, and her imagination was on the fritz.

Well, at least she wouldn’t die of water deprivation while she waited to be rescued.

Speaking of rescue.

A car had appeared, winding around the curve of the lake. A big ole’ country truck calling to mind hoedowns and hay rides. A big ole’ rusty truck, Emily realized as it drew closer. Burnt red growth spread out across the hood like a marauding band of Vikings overtaking a defenseless village. She imagined rust was the only thing holding the vehicle together.

The truck slowed and Emily tensed, torn between elation at being found and wariness regarding exactly who might be behind the wheel of the ancient rattletrap. The glare off the windshield made it impossible to see inside the cab, however.

The tires veered off to the side of the road and stopped, sending up a cloud of dust. Emily waved her hand, choking on the airborne dirt. Her mouth felt dry as if she had licked the ground. The door opened. Work boots emerged. Brown and roughed-up and covered in… paint. A man stepped out, and Emily steadied her hands against the car to keep from falling over.

Mr. Darcy. No, Heathcliff. Only instead of a cravat and breeches, he was dressed in faded jeans and a black T-shirt, which seemed molded to an impressive chest. Heath stretched up a good six-plus feet, towering over her puny five-foot-two frame. A lock of dark chocolate-brown hair brushed over his forehead. Their eyes met. Since she was already thinking in clichés, Emily’s mind offered up a million of them to describe his eyes. She could start with gray, but no way did such a mundane word do them justice. Slate, storm clouds, a roiling sea, glazed pewter. Devastating, and framed by thick sooty lashes no man had a right to possess.

He stopped a few feet away, and Emily had the fanciful notion he was trying not to frighten her. Like she was a skittish filly about to bolt.

“Hi,” he said. “Car trouble?”

His voice was like his eyes. Smooth and deep, like honey in a cup of hot tea.

Emily nodded. How could she speak when every male literary fantasy she’d ever dreamed about had unfolded from a rusted-out pickup?

Guest Post– “How Christina Hendricks and Chris Pine Inspired My Characters” by Shannyn Schroeder author of CATCH YOUR BREATH

Character Inspiration

Before I start writing a book, the first thing I do is try to get to know the characters. I figure out their personalities and what they look like. Then I create collages that I hang on the bulletin board above my desk as visual inspiration as I write.

Moira O’Leary is the only daughter who inherited the red hair from her mother. She is also buxom. So naturally, I pictured Christina Hendricks in the role of Moira. Not only does her coloring and body type fit the character, but I also think it was her smile that made me know she was the right inspiration. She’s sexy and smart and looks like she knows how to have fun.

Jimmy O’Malley gave me a bit of a harder time. I needed a guy who is good looking (duh!) but could also be intense. Jimmy spends most of the book being very serious. He’s not the kind of guy who smiles and laughs often. However, when he does, it’s powerful. Because of this, I chose Chris Pine as my inspiration for Jimmy. Really, I don’t think any other explanation is needed, is there?

Meet Shannyn…

Shannyn is a former English teacher, who now works as a part-time editor while raising her three kids.

Even though she wrote from high school through college (mostly poetry), she’d never considered a career as an Shannyn Schroederauthor. Writing fell by the wayside as she focused her energy on creating lesson plans and new and fabulous ways to torment her teen students. One group in particular dubbed her “The Torture Master,” a title she carried into motherhood.

After the birth of baby number two, Shannyn resigned from teaching and fell in love with reading romance novels. She read so many books so quickly that her husband teased, “If you’re going to read so many damn books, why don’t you just write one?”

So she did.

That first book is safely buried on her hard drive, but the process set Shannyn on the path to where she is today—agented with a debut ebook coming out with Kensington in late 2012.

She is recovering from her Diet Coke addiction, fears putting her foot in her mouth on social media, and has a renewed appreciation for the bad girls of the world.
