Welcome to Sneak Peek Sunday!

I’m continuing with giving snippets of my upcoming contemporary western romance release, Heartstrings. Today, we find Seth in Abby’s barn, but she’s not too happy about it….

ccontemporary western romance, cowboy romance, Texas romance, Native American romance, country music singer romanceA half-hour later, he rode out of the pasture behind Abby’s barn, led Emily’s mare into the stable and unsaddled her. He searched until he found a brush, then rubbed the mare down and gave her a ration of oats in a bucket. He let her out into the pasture as Abby marched across the driveway toward him.

Damn, did the woman ever just walk? He rested a hand on the doorframe above his head and waited for her to unleash the storm brewing in the clouds swirling in her eyes.

She pushed past him into the relative coolness of the barn and turned to face him. Her fists were propped on the curve of her hips. His gaze stuck on the cutoff denim shorts and the long toned legs below the frayed edges. Her tennis shoes were set apart in a tense stance.

He dragged his eyes back up her body and smiled. Her soft curves were a welcome treat when compared to the supermodel walking skeletons he normally hooked up with. “You know, time has definitely treated you well.”

Hell, he hadn’t intended to put voice to the thought.

When she narrowed her eyes into flashing slits, he would’ve sworn he heard thunder roll somewhere over the prairie beyond the river. “I told you to stay away from Emily.”

Uh-oh… I see a storm coming….

I’m sponsoring another western themed blog hop May 2 – 6.

cowboys, lawmen, sheriffs, Texas Rangers, contemporary western romance, romantic suspense.

Cowboys are known as bad-boys, but what happens when the bad-boy is also the law in town? What is it about these contradictions that make small town sheriffs, Texas Rangers and ex-outlaws-turned-lawmen so irresistible? Whether you write or love to read about the Wild West or modern day Montana, what do you love most about lawmen who are also cowboys? And what makes them so gosh-darn sexy?
Sign ups are open until April 21. I send out the welcome and instruction email to all participants on April 23.  If you would like to take part, sign-up on Cowboy Charm.

  1. Love the excerpt. I can’t wait to read more. You put so much emotion into just six little paragraphs.

  2. I love this excerpt, Sara! So, so great! I don’t know what the heck I’m doing not participating in this Snippet Sunday blog hop. I’m going to be sure and sign up this week! Your covers, as usual, are BEA-U-TI-FUL!

    • AJ, you should join up! It’s a lot of fun and I’ve bought a lot of books from this hop alone. I liked 6 Sentence Sunday, but wished I could both post more and read more of the snippets. I usually try to post no more than 8 to 12 sentences in my 6 paragraphs, but it gives more of the picture and hopefully intrigues readers enough to want to read the whole book.

Oh, and thank you! I love my Lyrical covers. They both are amazing. Even though the picture of the couple on Heartstrings isn’t anything like I picture Seth and Abby, Renee (who did my art) really tried to find something that would work. And I love what she did.

  3. A storm coming? Ya think? LOL She’s gunning for him, no ifs, ands, or buts. But I think he can take it. 🙂 Maybe even enjoy it. Great characters here, Sara!

  4. Love the excerpt, Sara! Sounds like a wonderful read.

  5. Your cover is beautiful, Sarah. I loved this excerpt. Loved the fire between them.

  6. Karen Michelle Nutt

Fantastic scene! I could feel the heat and tension and I must know more.
I love how Seth takes time to appreciate her attributes even though she’s about to let him have it…. and not in a good way. lol

  7. Flattery will get you nowhere, bucko! 🙂 Fabulous peek. I want to read more! Lots of sparks flying between these two!

  8. Nikki Barrett

Great minds think a like today in terms of storms lol. Great snippet! 🙂 Very well done!

  9. Woooo, a storm is coming indeed!! love your descriptions! I can picture this scene so well in my mind, like i’m there. April 1st is coming up fast! Can’t wait to read more!! Great snippet!

  10. I’m already in love with your hero. I can’t believe how much emotion you managed to put in those 6 paragraphs. I want to read more!!

  11. Ooh, here comes trouble! And that’s just what I like! Nice sneak peak, Sara! 🙂
